In the Talmud it says that every blade of grass has an angel leaning over it, whispering Grow, Grow, Grow. If we look to nature, nature is always trying to be a bigger expression of itself.
And you, right here, right now, have that same life force pressing through you. It’s asking you to grow. It’s asking you to be more, do more, have more. To express life at a greater level! But it doesn’t whisper to us “Grow, Grow, Grow,” instead, it shows up in two powerful ways.
The first way is in our longings.
Think about something that really just sparks your interest. Maybe there’s a destination you’ve always wanted to travel to. Maybe you’ve always had this idea that you would learn a foreign language, or you’ve always wanted to write a book. There’s something stirring in your soul that just lights you up. Sometimes those are big ideas, big dreams, other times they’re just soft signals. You’re scrolling through social media and you see a friend doing something, or you see a preview for a movie, and there’s just an “ooh! That interests me!”
So often we have these little ideas or things that interest us, but very quickly, we go, “I don’t have the time for that. THEY can do that, but I can’t do that. When would I do that?” and we don’t even entertain the idea.
As you start to pay attention to life’s soft signals and the longings, what lights you up? What have you always wanted to do? My husband loves guitars, music, and all the gear, and there’s two guitar shops in the United States that he always thought, “I would love to go to visit them, try the different guitars, and hang out there,” It was something inside of that idea that just lit him up. I don’t have that same desire, but I have different things that I’m excited about, and that one day I would love to try!
Pay attention to those longings.
