How's that working for you...

I had a couple of 'off' days last week.  Specifically Monday & Tuesday.  Our youngest was sick and didn't sleep well for two nights so I turned off my alarm and skipped my morning meditation and workout in favour of sleep.  By Tuesday afternoon I was in a bad mood and as the time went on I was coming up with a pretty good list of 'becauses' to explain my foul mood.  By the time the alarm rang on Wednesday morning I turned it off and justified it by saying I deserved more sleep when a quiet little voice inside of me asked "and how's that been working out for you?"  Oh that powerful inner guidance that knows exactly what to say to us to catch our attention (if we are willing to listen for it). That morning it was exactly what I needed to hear and I got myself out of bed and into my meditation chair where I began writing my gratitudes.  As I was journalling I became awake to the fact that I had given my power over to my circumstances for the last two days and in that moment I reclaimed it.  

I am grateful that it only took me two days to choose a different mindset, this isn't always the case.  

In reflection it was amazing how many reasons I was able to come up with why I was in a bad mood and as I thought of one reason another one would be ready to be added to the list.  This is how the Universe responds to us - wherever we put our attention it says yes to us and gives us more of that.  This is the power of the remedy of gratitude, by placing your attention on what is going right and all of the things to be grateful for in this moment the Universe begins to respond to that with more positive thoughts which creates more positive feelings which impacts our actions and ultimately our results.   

Turn up your noticing on how often you use the word 'because' this week.  "This won't work because... I can't do this because... I'll be late because.... I can't buy that because....We're experiencing this result because..."  Now let's be real, this is how most of us have been trained to think and to look at our results but it doesn't mean it's the right way or the only way.  This week be open to asking yourself these powerful questions:

  • Is there another potential outcome to this situation?
  • Is there another way to look at this situation? 
  • What would I do if I didn't think it was impossible? 
  • What would I love the outcome to be? 
  • Am I focused on the problem or the solution? 
  • What can I be grateful for in this moment? 

I believe that our work to do is to stay awake more often to our power and our ability to create our circumstances versus being a victim to them.  We are powerful creative beings and we have ultimate to choice on how we are going to show up in every moment.
