Do you trust your intuition?
I spent many years around a boardroom table, and around that boardroom table, I was the youngest person, and likely the least experienced person.
And i remember many times being around that table, and having these ideas, followed by this thought: “well, if this was a good idea, somebody else certainly would have had it first, because they know more than I do.” More often than not, I would keep quiet, only later to realize, “No, that WAS a really good idea!” I’ve come to understand that that was my intuition speaking to me.
Gandhi calls our intuition the “still small voice” and he says that it’s as loud as our willingness to listen.
Each one of us, we have this perfect guidance system. Just like if you’re in a new city or a new town, or you want to go to a new place, you would type the address into your GPS and you let it guide you where you’re going. And I don’t know about you, but I can’t imagine going to new city anymore without that GPS and trying to find my way around!
For you and I, we have this built-in navigation system, a guidance system, that when we learn to listen to it, it will guide us perfectly to that destination where we want to go. Albert Einstein says that the intuitive mind is a sacred gift. The rational mind is its faithful servant. We’ve created a society that honours the servant, and has forgotten the gift. Our intuition is this incredible gift, and the more that we can tap into that internal guidance, it’ll lead you exactly where you want to go. So how do you start developing that intuition?
One of the most powerful ways to do that is by asking it questions. I’m sure you could think of times where after a situation you say to yourself, “I knew better. I had a feeling!“
We’ve got these gut feelings. Learn to listen to that more. So ask questions of it: “Which way should I go home today?” “What should I eat for breakfast?” “What’s my best next step to lead me in the direction of my vision?” and pay attention. Your intuition will speak to you in lots of different ways, sometimes it might be an image that comes up. It could be an idea that lands. It could be somebody comes to you and says something, and you go “oh yeah, that’s it! That’s for me!”
But it’s really about learning to pay attention to it and trust it. So when you hear from that still small voice, trust it and learn to follow it. Your intuition is just one of your powerful six mental faculties.
I’ve created a powerful introductory course into your six mental faculties if you want to learn more about these and learn how to apply them.
Here’s to you living a life you love,
