Mother Relationships- Acknowledging Your Feelings about Mother’s Day

This weekend is Mother’s Day, and if you haven’t got ready for Mother’s Day, here’s your fair warning, it’s this Sunday! If you need to plan a phone call or buy a card or make plans, this is the time to be doing it.

Mother’s Day is a special day to celebrate our moms. Each one of us we came into this world, we all have a mom in some capacity, and from there, though, our stories vary. I wanted to support you and wherever you are in that journey of motherhood, your relationship with your mom.

For some of you, this is a day of celebration, you’ve got a great relationship, you’re celebrating your own mom, maybe a grandmother, and maybe being celebrated as a mom. For some people, it’s a day of grieving, a day of loss of that relationship, maybe your mom is no longer here on the physical plane, or you’re mourning the loss that you were never able to become a mom.

I wanted to support you and wherever you are in that journey of motherhood, your relationship with your mom.

Wherever you are on that journey, it’s an opportunity to really look at that relationship with your mom and what that means. Even if you don’t have a physical relationship anymore, that relationship lives on in eternity inside of our minds.

This weekend, as we go into Mother’s Day, know for yourself whether this a day and a weekend of honouring, of appreciation, of intentionally, giving gratitude for that relationship. Or, maybe this weekend for you is a weekend of forgiveness, where there’s a forgiving that needs to occur for that relationship. Maybe it’s a tough relationship, maybe it’s guilt ridden, maybe there’s some dissonance there and it’s time to forgive.

Today’s topic on YouTube

I encourage you to go watch some of the past videos that we’ve done on forgiveness. Forgiveness is not something that we, where we let somebody off the hook for a behaviour or for hurting us, but forgiveness and true forgiveness is when we look at the relationship that we have in our own minds and we’re able to let go of any hurt, any resentment, so that we’re fully free to be ourselves, to show up in the world as our best self.

Is this an opportunity this weekend for gratitude, for intention, for appreciation? Is there some forgiveness, some hurts that you’re ready to release and to let go of?

Or maybe this weekend is simply a nod to the women in your life, and those mother figures that have really supported you in becoming the person you are today.

At the time of recording this week’s video, I was on Vancouver Island having a nice weekend with my mom. We were there traveling together, not something that we’ve ever done! We got on a plane just the two of us, we visited some family, I recorded some videos and we created some new memories.

I’m very, very grateful that I get to celebrate my mom this weekend, and be celebrated as a mom of my three kids. A very special weekend for us, and I know that’s not the case for everybody.

Wherever you are on this journey of motherhood, I’m celebrating you and I hope you’ll really find a way to embrace the power of this weekend of Mother’s Day.

Here is to you living a life you love,
Stacey
