Take a Moment to Reflect – and Forgive

This week we celebrate Remembrance Day, and it’s a day to honour our veterans. I believe a powerful day of self-reflection in all of our lives and to really consider the times where we feel like we’ve been wronged, where we’ve been hurt, where we’ve been betrayed, and to implement this powerful practice of forgiveness.

Forgiveness is one of the most powerful tools to really support us in clearing our hearts clearing our energy so that that is available to us to truly pursue our dreams. We cannot carry bitterness and resentment, and have deep loving meaningful relationships. Those two things can’t coexist.

So this week, a really great time to look around your life and just notice where am I carrying some resentment, some bitterness, maybe a past hurt, a past betrayal, and you haven’t quite been able to let that go.

We cannot carry bitterness and resentment, and have deep loving meaningful relationships. Those two things can't coexist.

A very evolved practice of forgiveness is this recognition that forgiveness actually has nothing to do with the other person.

We sometimes feel like forgiveness is all about receiving an apology, when that person who hurt me or betrayed me, when they apologize, when they admit their wrongdoing. Then I may or may not choose to forgive them. We make it all about the other person.

Forgiveness is actually all about us. It’s a choice that we make to give for a new perspective. Forgiveness means to “give for”.

Where can I shift my perspective, how I’m viewing a situation, and really come to peace around that? Where can I make a decision that I am no longer going to carry this hurt along with me? I am no longer going to give that any energy. I am going to free my own mind and my own heart so that I can really move forward in my life in a way that feels really good to me.

Today’s topic on YouTube

Forgiveness is not something we just do once. Forgiveness requires some deep spiritual fortitude to really allow ourselves that shift in perception, to set down those burdens, what’s no longer serving us in service of that greater more expansive experience of life. Is there something in your life that you’re ready to forgive, that you’re ready to let go of?

Again, remember it has nothing to do with the other person. We’re not saying what they did was okay, but what we’re saying is I’m ready to set that down. I’m ready to shift my own energy, my own perspective in service of something, that means more to me.
