Taking the 30,000 Foot View
On a flight this week from LA to Seattle on my way home to Edmonton we flew up the coast with a view of the ocean most of the way. There are so many pieces of wisdom that I hear all the time that I think I understand but on this flight one of those pieces of wisdom landed in a much deeper way.
The ocean is massive. From 34,000 feet its vastness is apparent and I know that I am still seeing just a tiny portion of it from seat 12A. I have often heard the saying you can go to the ocean with a teaspoon and it will delight to give you a teaspoon or you can go with a bucket and it will delight to fill that bucket. So often we go to life with a teaspoon (often sheepishly wondering if we are asking too much) and life delights to fill our teaspoon when all along it would have just as lovingly filled a bucket – any size of bucket.
Are you asking from the ocean of possibility for what you truly desire or are you accepting your current life as all you were meant to have?
At 34,000 feet I started asking for more from my life, knowing that it is available, not only for me, but for each one of us. Looking at the huge ships that were merely specks I laughed to myself at how small a teaspoon would be compared to the ocean and I know that the ocean is just a microcosom of the postential that exists in the Universe and in Life.
At 34,000 feet it was much easier to see the possibility than it was standing in the security line at the airport. Sometimes it's hard to see the possibilities of our life when we are standing in our circumstances. Give yourself the gift of looking down at your life from a 30,000 foot perspective – where are you playing small and where could you be asking for more, knowing that the Universe is ready to say "Yes".
To Your Success,
