One of the risks that can happen when we’re in a good rhythm and things are going well and we get comfortable, is we stop growing and challenging ourselves.
I was speaking to one of my coaches recently and he talked about the “Yes, Gulp” principle.
The “Yes, Gulp” principle is when we’re growing and we want to reach out visions, we still want to say “yes” to opportunities even when we don’t know the how, we don’t feel prepared, or we don’t feel ready.
This is an opportunity to really look at what’s your next level of growth.
What could you say yes to that you’re not quite ready for? Bring that “yes, gulp” moment in your life.
This week I received some pictures from a client from her wedding. Her “yes, gulp” moment was a short time ago when she decided to put her picture back on the dating sites. Because she was willing to do that, and to do it afraid, she’s now happily married.
So what are you sitting on right now? What goals? What idea? Where could you be challenging yourself? Where in your life do you not feel ready?
One of the things that I know is those “yes, gulp” moments become a lot easier with coaching. Imagine having a trusted mentor holding your hand in those scary moments when it’s time to say yes, it’s time to leap. Sometimes investing in yourself IS the “yes, gulp” moment.
I have a client who made the decision to invest in herself and say yes to one of my programs, and it was a big stretch for her where she was. She didn’t know exactly how she was going to pay for it because it was a financial stretch, and she was also wondering, “what if it doesn’t work out? What if I make this investment and I’m not able to produce the results?” These are really common fears when we’re making decisions about investing in ourselves, about growing. That’s where she was at. She made the decision in a “yes, gulp” moment, and in a very short period of time, she went from earning $4000 a month to over $20,000 a month consistently because she was willing to say yes without knowing the “how”. She took a step that she could to move forward, without knowing the rest of the steps, and she’s now experiencing that result.
So what is that for you? What are you sitting on right now that you could say yes to? And think about if you don’t say yes to that, what’s that going to look like a year from now? Chances are you’ll be in the same patterns you are today and you were last year too.
So my challenge to you today is say yes to something new. Say yes to a new idea, a new goal, a new vision, a new desire, before you’re ready.
Go have your “yes, gulp” moment.
To you living a life that you love,
